Growing up
as a child,
I was told I can do and be anything I dreamed
of
Well
except for the performing arts
Because “there’s
no security and stability in dancing, singing or acting”, I was told.
I was
encouraged to study
Work hard
“Keep your
head in the books; it will reap a successful harvest in the future”, my mother often
whispered.
So I did I
as I was told
I studied
I worked
hard
I read and took education seriously.
But there
was something they forgot to tell me.
Yes there
was something my parents forgot to tell me!
They
forgot to tell me
That
although education is the key
Courage
and faith are what will need to
Enter and
stay and stand in a turbulent room
Yes there
was something my parents forgot to tell me!
They told
me the importance of entering in
But kept
silent about what is needed to stay in
And hold
on.
Oh yes,
They told
me about getting good grades
“Laziness
is a bad trait, it will lead you to poverty”, she explained.
“Education
means countless opportunities, don’t waste it!” my father exclaimed.
Oh yes
There was
something my parents forgot to tell me!
What my
parents forgot to say
Was that
the education they referred to
Was not the
schools and university I attended
No
So far as
they were concerned there was only one school
Oh yes
The school
of life
What my
parents forgot to say
Was that
the good grades they wanted me to obtain was not academic qualifications
No!
It was
character!
Life
itself is the education!
Yes life
is the education my parents were referring to!
Work hard!
Study
diligently!
Take your
education seriously!
Life is
education and education is life.
Education
was only a metaphor for life
Life!
Life is
the best education
Life
presents you with tests examinations
Work hard!
Study diligently!
Life
shapes character
Life
teaches courage and faith
“Education
means countless opportunities, don’t waste it!” he exclaimed.
Life means
countless opportunities, don’t waste it!
Oh yes,
What my
parents failed to tell me!
